How to Donate Books

The MTAEF/MTA Library at Baruch College is seeking to expand their collection.  Here is how you can contribute:
  • If you have books on technical analysis or any related financial disciplines and would like to donate them to The MTAEF/MTA Library at Baruch College, please contact MTAEF President Bruce Kamich (barchart@comcast.net).
  • You will need to supply a list of the books and authors and a fair market appraisal.  If you do not know an appraiser, a list of appraisers is available on request.  However, if your collection is valued at $5,000 or more, you will need to have the collection appraised by a qualified appraiser (see pages 9-11 of IRS Publication 561) who is a member of the Appraisers Association of America (www.appraisersassoc.org).
  • After the list and appraisal have been received, arrangements will be made for packing and shipping the books to New York where the books will be catalogued.  The Foundation will reimburse the shipping expenses.
  • A receipt for the full market value will be sent from the Foundation.

The IRS Publication 561 Determining the Value of Donated Property is available in a pdf downloadable format.
